I think the choice of designer will be a great boost to British fashion. Sarah has brought such femininity to McQueen and finally puts the seal of approval of her as his successor.

Well done Kate!

Kate's does look truly beautiful Smile x

Her dress is classic and as such will remain timeless. I thought the veil was very pretty.

Great pictures Seren!

Agree, I notice that it has the hallmark of Sarah's with that emphasis on the waist, lifting out to the side slightly. Very classic and the folds from the waist down the sides are simply gorgeous. Loved the train not being so long, a really large train is quite distracting from a dress.

And of course the football monarchy. Victoria is wearing her own design I'd imagine.

Pippa Middleton looking fab too!

Bridesmaids and pageboys.

Mother of the bride wearing one of Diana's favourite designers.

A very British dress...

Echoing the palace's statement that "Miss Middleton chose British brand Alexander McQueen for the beauty of its craftsmanship and its respect for traditional workmanship and the technical construction of clothing", Burton declared herself "delighted that the dress represents the best of British craftsmanship. Alexander McQueen's designs are all about bringing contrasts together to create startling and beautiful clothes and I hope that by marrying traditional fabrics and lacework, with a modern structure and design, we have created a beautiful dress for Catherine on her wedding day."

The unique lace custom made for the dress incorporates four emblems of the United Kingdom; the rose, thistle, daffodil and the shamrock. Embellishing flowers were cut from English and French Chantilly lace, and the layers of the dress were also designed to resemble an opening flower.

PARIS - German couturier Karl Lagerfeld hailed Kate Middleton's royal wedding dress Friday, describing the Alexander McQueen and Sarah Burton gown as "elegant and chic".

Commenting on the ceremony for French television, Lagerfeld compared the dress favourably to the one worn at a previous royal wedding: "It's a bridal gown of very refined detail, much more refined than the one Diana wore."

"Alexander McQueen's dresses are always very elegant. It's very pretty, and relatively classic, but that goes with the decor, with a little touch of the 1950s that recalls Marilyn Monroe or Queen Elizabeth II's dress.

"The lace is pretty, especially the embroidered veil and the tiara not too high, without too heavy a bun. It's ravishing and the length of the train is perfect," he continued.

"It's all elegant and chic — you don't need to be born a royal princess to be like that," he declared,

*sigh*..... I love you king queen

Looking at Kate in her wedding dress brings back to me why fairy tales and princesses are hugely popular over here. I missed most of the wedding, but I got to see a little of the carriage procession, then I had to start work. It's 7:40 pm there now, and I bet they both are just a little bit p*ssed about now. Smile the best of luck to both of them. Wills looked SO nervous... it was so very sweet. God bless them both. And far as I'm concerned, she IS Princess Katherine. queen
