It's a referendum for gods sake. Politicians, if they are any good will put up any argument to win their point. I like to see strong debate with innuendo and perhaps the odd mild porky. At the end of the day the best argument by the best debaters will prevail. The mugwumps in the Lib Dems are too screwed up by their own PC crap that they don't know which way to turn.

Hi Fred,
I like one of the posters for 'Yes to AV' it has Nick Griffins ugly mug with a caption beside it- "BNP say No to AV; how will you vote? Say Yes to AV'.
I think that should bag a few Yes votes from the well minded public
Tbh all the signs I've seen are pretty low; none really address the real pros and cons of either system and just use exhaturated ideas and slurs.
Still not sure which way I'll go- but Yes is looking likley tbh.

It's funny how the refendum debate hasn't really got of the ground- I know it's had to compete with big natural disasters etc but maybe it'll pick up in next couple of weeks.
I was a bit ambivelent about the whole thing to start off but I now feel a Yes vote would be the best outcome now. I mean just look at who is lined up on the No side- the Tory establishment, old Labour establishment dinosaurs and the Far Right [I think Eizel's right, Nick Griffin's mug supporting a No vote isn't going to be an advantage for the No campaign lol]. So when you look at that lot- and the ferocity they are attacking the Yes campaign and the wild lies they are telling about AV- one can only suspect that they have very deep vested interests at stake and are rattled. Because they clearly have so much to lose, that alone must indicate that a Yes vote is a positive one.
Whatever happens though, the Coalition is going to be damaged by this whole thing. They've got themselves in a real lose-lose situation over this and the outcome either way will only serve to limit damage rather than avoid it entirely. A No vote will destabilise Clegg and his backbenchers will quite rightly start asking what on Earth are they doing in this coalition now, selling their principles down the river soso a few top party memebers can drive around in ministerial cars, but I think a Yes vote will affect Cameron even more badly. He hasn't the support of the Tory grassroots and is barely tolerated by the Tory backbenchers who, quite rightly, know he is a really a Liberal, not a true blue Tory. They knew the same about Mrs Thatcher but tolerated her for some time because she was a firm leader and delivered majority governments. Cameron failed to do that at his first attempt against a deeply unpopular Gordon Brown, so I don't think the Tories will put up with Cameron as long as they did with Thatcher, and a Yes vote will be very very bad news for him personally, in particular.
Very, very interesting, particularly if you are not a Conservative or Liberal and have with the luxury of looking in from the outside lol

Both Clegg and the "Campaign For Fairer Votes" (which I was a member of) sold their principles down the river, when they changed the Campaign from PR to AV, after the Election!
