Swansea Two – Latest News – Fatwa Issued

Post by Guest on Tue Apr 12, 2011 1:06 pm

Sion Owens walked free from Swansea Magistrates Court this afternoon after a sensational U-turn by the police.

The British National Party Welsh Assembly candidate had been told that he was going to be charged with “incitement to racial hatred” following allegations that he had burned a Koran in his back garden or garage during an International Burn a Koran Day protest on the anniversary of the Islamist mass murder at the Twin Towers on 9/11.

Apparently, however, the police lawyers suddenly realised that neither the Koran nor Islam nor Muslims have any connection with “race”, and that a prosecution under the Race Laws would fail automatically.

They also seem belatedly to have woken up to the fact that such a prosecution would in any case require the approval of the Attorney General.

This takes time to organise.

In addition, since the Attorney General is a Tory MP, Dominic Grieve, it would look very suspect for him to give consent to prosecute candidates from a rival political party on free speech charges during an election campaign.

As a result, and as reported earlier on this site, a shame-faced Crown Prosecution Service lawyer announced that it was withdrawing the case against him.

Mr. Owens was therefore allowed home a free man.

He was, however, told that the investigation will continue and that he may be re-arrested and charged afresh at some stage in the future.

In the meantime, he and his partner Joanne Shannon are both unnecessarily and unfairly handicapped in their election campaigning by having had their computers and mobile phones seized and held by the police.

This sort of election-time harassment is, sadly, nothing new for the British National Party.

Sion and Joanne were told by police officers that their lives are in serious danger following the issuing of a fatwa against them in Pakistan.

They were advised to leave home and go into hiding.

When they refused, the police installed various security items and said that additional patrols would be made in the area, but that they would not be providing a permanent police guard.

This contrasts markedly with cases such as that of the so-called Tipton Taliban, all of whose West Midlands homes were provided with 24-hour police guards.

It seems that protecting radical Muslims is a higher police priority than securing the safety of native-born Brits where the only alleged “crime” is to burn some pieces of paper.

“Regardless of one’s opinion of Koran-burning, this affair has now moved on to become a matter of principle and a warning for the future,” Nick Griffin told our News Team this evening. “If a fatwa from a Muslim cleric in Pakistan can lead British police to conclude that there is a serious threat of murderous violence in South Wales, then clearly the real offence was that of the political elite when they allowed people with such medieval and intolerant attitudes into our country.

“This is a further step in the creeping Islamification of Britain.

The police must now switch their focus to monitoring Islamist websites and all mosques in and near South Wales in order to be able to apprehend any Muslims who believe that it is acceptable to attempt to carry out barbaric fatwas on British soil.

“The Tory government too now has a duty to act.

Pakistan should be told to deal with the threat and the cleric who made it, or face the immediate halting of all foreign aid hand-outs.

Anything less will show that Cameron and Co. are willing to appease Islamic violence and intimidation.

“As for incitement, it seems to me that if anyone is to be prosecuted, it should be the Guardian and the police for making a mountain out of a molehill and publicising a private alleged action in the first place. Clearly their reasons for doing so were political and directly connected with the election.

“To endanger lives for such ends is irresponsible in the extreme.

Surely there is a prima facie case against them for incitement to racial hatred against Sion and Joanne as members of the indigenous community?”

Separately, Joanne Shannon is now considering reporting the police to the RSPCA over their forcing her to leave her young puppy alone and unfed for nearly 24 hours while holding her in a filthy cell overnight, after initially telling her that they wouldn’t keep her long. Sad

Naturally, dont forget there is one law book for us and one for "them"

Looking at what has been publicised so far It also appears that the arrest of his disabled partner and her subsequent disgraceful treatment...including the refusal to provide her meds amounts to police POLITICAL action...as opposed to criminal.

Further, SURELY the conditions under which she was held, constitute inhumane and degrading treatment, and the refusal of painkillers to someone who has them prescribed, for the length of time she was held constitutes torture. It also seems to me that holding someone in those conditions, in pain, constitutes "sleep deprivation" which is outlawed as an evidence gathering mechanism in this country.....Can you immagine the stink if a muslim was held in those conditions, how his religious rights would be infringed by the presence of human excrement???? We would have a human rights case going full tilt....

What you burn in your own garden is nowt to do with anybody else. I've burned books and other unwanted litter on bonfires many times. Are the "Thought Police" going to want to lock me up as well?.
