PAYSON, Ariz. —  A flash flood at a popular swimming hole north of Payson killed nine people from an extended Phoenix family Saturday, and left at least one missing, officials said Sunday.  Officials have not released the names of the dead, but family members, who drove to Payson to help search told The Arizona Republic that 14 family members were at the swimming hole to celebrate one of their birthdays when the flood struck around 3 p.m. MT.

Dead are Miguel Garnica, 27, and his wife Maria Raya, who would have turned 26 Sunday, and their children Emily, 3, and Mia, 5; Maria's sister Maribel Raya, 24, her daughter Erika Raya, 2, and Maribel's brother Javier Raya, 14; Celia Garcia, 60, the mother of Maria, Maribel and Javier; and Jonathan Leon, 13, Celia Garcia's grandson. All are from Phoenix.  Hector Garnica, 27, was still missing Sunday. A 13-year-old boy was also still missing Sunday, the Associated Press reported.

The Gila County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday about flooding at a swimming hole known as Cold Springs near the Water Wheel campground in the Tonto National Forest.

Given the meteorologist technology that we have at our disposal in this the 21st century; never - NEVER-EVER would or should any parent be taking their family into a cannon - stream fed place to enjoy the day when there are storm warnings and high winds headed their way!
FFS - absolutely unfuckingbelievable that those adults exposed those little kids to such horrors when those little ones had NO VOICE IN THIS HORRIFIC SITUATION!

Youre right, there's no excuse for such grosse incompetence, especially with all the technology available, including meteorology and communications, we basically have these technologies on a global basis.

We're now the weakest link in the technology chain basically because a lot of folk don't care, and it often takes people who care to steer us away from the goatfuck! it won't take long for AI to sus that one out, we'll probably be cast us out of the loop, as surplus to requirement.

I've always appreciated WYW {whoseyourwolfie} pat answer to such heart breaking articles like these; "Darwin's Natural Selection At Work!"  And that would generally ignite heads on fire over at NF.

But WYW was quite correct ...it's just sad that those children born into such F'd up utterly stupid human families don't get a VOTE on whether or not 'mommy & daddy are being Fuck-Wits and putting them all in danger!' Evil or Very Mad

Some people seem to think that nothing can happen to them, it only happens to others. What an utter stupid thing to do.
