Laughing Yes Hither Green is a nice little village type enclave and perfectly safe, apart from parking issues mainly!

Ok....So that's all the wall tilling done, and intricate cutting little bits...

Was a bit pissed off, that we were underestimated on the number of boxes of tiles needed and were two boxes short  What a Face

These tiles had sold out from every branch of Homebase in London, so i finally managed to source some in Kent. Luckily the builder offered to drive Doug there to pick them up...so panic over! Smile

They still have to do the grouting tomorrow, then the ceiling has to be sorted, the heated towel rail needs to be connected and the new shower and screen! New toliet, vanity unit with the sink on top!

The new floor tiles need to be fitted..Then i have a mounted storage unit to be put up and grated wall mirror as well.

They asked for second to last instalment today though, which going by the itinery means that we are on the final straights of the project.

The dust is doing my head in as well as the lack of hot water, so we will be glad when it's over and will be leaving the kitchen until August.

.....These improvements are for life though and if we had waited for our housing association to do them, them we would be waiting forever, our kitchen dates back to the 80's (it's the same kitchen that was in the tea room in my first job)...we upcycled the units by painting them in modern oil free paint etc, but it's falling to bits now and was very badly planned when this house was originally converted into two flats, the lack of workspace is a complete nightmare!

Also....everything that we have done in the flat is very durable and will last the test of time. We are doing our housing association a favour as renovations when we die will be minimal for the next tenant.

....Another fishwife woman neighbour from the bottom of the road effing and blindin about us blocking the space outside!

...Explained what was happening and she was still effing and blindin!

Me....'Tell you what love. I'll fucking get the builder to double park then, then you won't be going anywhere!'

....If you could afford it love, you would do exactly the same thing' Mad

I'm so enjoying the play-by-play or should I say the build - by - build!  Just a question about that toilet: I notice the plunger knob is in the center of the water tank, is that one of those 'SUPER FLUSH' types and how high did you get the seat?  When I redid my bathroom I had a ADA 18" tall one installed and OMG, my kneed sure know when I go use a toilet that is only 14" or 16" off of the floor Embarassed
HOLY HELL, my knees just creak & groan from arthritis - LOUDLY!
I especially like the lighter walls and the darker gray on the floor - very chic!  Wink

It's a lower seat than the old fashioned toilets, but they are all like that now here, don't know if it's super flush or not as it wasn't connected to the mains water yesterday.

They are still here working now as it was supposed to be finished today.

The floor tiles were my choice, i love the contrast. Smile

Very pleased with the results so far, just taking a bit longer than we expected..But we were 2K under the previous estimate by an English builder, so swings and roundabouts Smile

....We are loving the jollyness of our Hungerian builders though, they sing alot and they have banter while they work!

We have noted that the daily mail reading old fucker fascist next door has spent more time inside, he hates foreigners and gay people!

The louder they are the better! Laughing

Oh, I do enjoy sitting and listening to the 'Worker B's' as they go about their jobs!  Grew up being my dad's GOPHER {errand girl} on his job sight when I was just a 3rd grader - followed my pops nearly every where/anytime I could get out of school.
And my lisp & stutter made communication an embarrassing issue for me but I loved to sit and listen to the conversations & stories that the workers were telling - and they kept it clean when I was around, well unless they dropped something or smacked a finger with a hand tool!  LOL Shocked
Dad hired anyone willing & able to put in a hard days work: Blacks/Swedes/Polish/Italians/Irish, not many Mexicans back then ...but those quiet Mennonite were rather creepy!

....Can't understand anything that they are saying, but they laugh alot and are always singing!

The site boss is reasonably fluent in English (i've been mostly dealing with the office online and that is perfect English)

He knows we are lefties, due to political historical prints in our kitchen...(a couple are communist)..

Had a brief chat about Brexit and how we are remain and in favour of free movement and he said his workers are worried...

.....I'd said to him that we are going to do the kitchen next, when he came around before to quote the bathroom.

...He seems to want to crack on with that next, but i said we need a couple of months break, it been stressfull with the lack of hot water and rows with certain neighbours over the parking!

...I was thinking about a long weekend in Paris next, recharge our minds....then deal with the kitchen in August!
