Tom Watson attacks Momentum-Unite Labour 'plot'

Post by Guest on Mon Mar 20, 2017 8:58 pm

Labour's deputy leader says left-wing supporters of Jeremy Corbyn are involved in a plot which could destroy the party as an electoral force.

Tom Watson was reacting to claims that the grassroots Momentum group - which helped make Mr Corbyn leader - is hoping to get financial support from Britain's largest trade union, Unite.

Momentum's Jon Lansman was reportedly taped saying that if Len McCluskey was re-elected as Unite general secretary, the union would affiliate to his group rather than just to Labour.

Momentum: Corbyn's secret weapon?

Mr Watson told BBC Radio 4's Today programme "enough is enough, this has got to stop... I'm afraid there are some people who do not have our electoral interests at heart".

He said: "We have never seen the biggest union organising a political faction in the Labour Party with the tacit approval of the leadership."

Mr Watson said he had a duty to "call out" what appeared to be a "secret plan" to take over the Labour Party and he urged Mr McCluskey to publicly state Unite would not fund Momentum under his leadership.

Following a shadow cabinet meeting, Mr Watson and Mr Corbyn issued a joint statement saying they "recognised the right of groups across the spectrum of Labour's broad church to discuss their views and try to influence the party so long as they operate within the rules".

"No one speaks for the leadership except the leadership themselves and their spokespeople," they added.

They had a PLP meeting today and he issued a joint statement with Jeremy. And of course they are behind with the backstabbing bastards like Tom Watson making sure they are behind. Wonder why? Couldn't be anything to do with the £500,000 he received from Max Mosley last year, or the £300,000 he's received already this year?

You said the other day on here that all mp's that don't support Corbyn should be deselected and replaced with candidates that do?

1. The whole of the problems in the ME pivot around the Israeli/Palestinian problem and and Israel's hatred for Iran and Syria. Only today they told Syria that if Syria shot at Israel planes bombing SYRIA, then they would increase the bombing, ie don't fight back, let us kill everyone.

2. You don't appear to realise that CLP's chose the candidate to stand for MP. 90% of CLPs back Corbyn as leader and his policies:

When it comes to elections, if they want to deselect the MP and select a candidate who agree with their principles and the way they want the party to go, that's what they will do, and that is what the rules say they are allowed to do.

I've still to see anyone tell me which of Labour's policy under Jeremy Corbyn it is that they disagree with.

Any takers from those looking in?

Watson knew exactly how his intervention would be used by the MSM to smear McCluskey and Corbyn.

The Blairite wing of the party just can't get over the fact that the left is now in control, as it should be, because Labour first and foremost is a socialist party, it's the only realistic alternative we've got.
