Dame Vera Lynn's image will be projected on the white cliffs of Dover on Monday as part of her 100th birthday celebrations.

The 350ft image will be projected onto the cliffs and Spitfires will fly overhead to honour her famous 1942 song 'White Cliffs of Dover'.

The singer, affectionately known as The Forces' Sweetheart, will also celebrate the release of her new album, Vera Lynn 100, on the day she becomes a centenarian.

A fitting tribute to a truly wonderfull woman who served her country with honour and great dignity going into the war zones to entertain the troops.

Happy bithday maam

Yea, happy birthday to her. The record company that promoted her wanted my Mum to have a contract with them and do the same as her. She was very beautiful when young and sung like an angel. Unfortunately, because my Nan and Grandad didn't have much and they had her younger brother to support, she didn't feel she could give up her job and take the chance.
