Citation: C N Trueman "Sophie Scholl"

Sophie Scholl was a member of the White Rosemovement that was formed in **** Germany during World War Two. Sophie, along with a small group of others, was anti-**** and therefore by definition anti-Hitler. It was only a matter of time before the authorities knew the identities of those who were writing what was described as ‘subversive’ leaflets and Sophie was put on trial, found guilty and executed.

Sophie was executed along with her brother and their best frind February 22 1943.

You beat me to it.

Sophie Scholl, executed on this day in 1943, for leading student resistance to the **** regime in Germany. She was 21.

Her final words, as she was led to her death with her brother Hans and their friend Christopher, were:

"How can we expect righteousness to prevail when there is hardly anyone willing to give himself up individually to a righteous cause? Such a fine, sunny day, and I have to go, but what does my death matter, if through us, thousands of people are awakened and stirred to action?"
