UK Construction Sector Sees Unexpected Boost

Post by Guest on Tue Apr 03, 2012 12:31 pm

Construction activity jumped to a 21-month high in March as new orders rose at their fastest rate in four-and-a-half years.

The purchasing managers index (PMI) for the industry rose to 56.7 in March from 54.3 in February, suggesting that the recovery is on track after the manufacturing sectoralso saw a pick up.

A slump in the two sectors was seen to be the driving force behind the economic contraction at the end of last year, which raised fears of another recession.

Although the signs are encouraging, "forceful measures" must be used to drive growth that is still too slow, a business lobby group has said.

Seems a bit better Very Happy

The Tories are tinkering with planning laws it seems. They are pushing to get the building industry going to get us out of recession.

Notice the big push to get council house tenants to buy their own houses, offering a big financial incentive

maybe it will work, who knows
