Tourism and Prostitution

Post by Guest on Sat Nov 19, 2011 6:12 pm

I'm sure that most of you are aware that I've been away the past couple of weeks on holiday. I stayed in a 5 star hotel in the Dominican Republic.

This was a family hotel although I often stay in adult only accommodation. When I do, I make sure that I am staying in the no children type rather than the orgies in the hot tub kind if you know what I mean Very Happy

I have to say I was completely surprised to find that prostitution was rife in this hotel. Older men with girls a third of their age who wouldn't have been out of place on a catwalk. Some choosing a partner for the duration of their holiday as a companion/lover and others escorting their "ladies" out of the hotel in the morning pale

I have been to the Caribbean many times and have never witnessed such obvious evidence of prostitution. I'm torn between each to their own and concern for the obvious exploitation of such young women. High class prostitution, designer clothes, sun glasses, the best of everything but what price to be paid in return??? Sad

IF the girls are happy to pay that price for their services then I have no problem. It seems desparate and sleezy on the part of any man imo but notthing 'immoral'. If however the girls are being exploited then I would oppose it completely.

Oooh, now I understand the cryptic comment you made on the Hi & Bye thread...

I doubt the women are being exploited. It's more likely the men are. These girls have little chance of earning the kind of money that would buy them the things they desire...the gated complexes hide the real Dom.Republic.

Such a shame that your holiday was blighted by all the shenanigans going on. xxx

It was very strange Angel, the hotel wasn't great all round to be honest. If anyone is thinking of going to La Romana in the Dominican Republic let me know and I'll tell you which hotel to avoid affraid lol!

No not at all Sassy. Live and let live! Just won't be going back, not due to the prostitution. I don't like going back to the same place twice, it's never the same but in this case it might not be a bad thing!!! LOL Very Happy x
